What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results, for example, in Google Search. SEO also helps improve user journeys to Queen's websites starting with organic search.

When a user submits a search query to a search engine, the search engine's algorithms determine which pages are relevant and which have authority for the keywords used.

The search engine results are also based on the user’s location and search history. Other factors that influence rankings include the quality of the code (for example, if it is built with semantic HTML or if it is accessible) and the apparent relevance of the content (for example, the presence of keywords, the number of links and traffic to the site and how often the content changes).
