On Friday, March 21st postdocs from across campus came together to share their current research with the broader Queen’s community. Similar to 3 Minute Thesis, presenters had three minutes and one static slide to summarize their research and convey its importance to a panel of judges and the audience. It is no easy task to summarize and contextualize years of specialized research and present it in an engaging manner – let alone in 3 minutes!

The audience learned about exciting research happening in Biology, Physics, Management, Computing, and multiple Engineering departments. Each participating postdoc shared their work in a clear and comprehensible way. A panel of judges from the alumni community and Queen’s University staff with experience in research and communications provided their evaluations and selected this year’s winners:

1st place: Dr. Jahnavi Shah, Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering, “The Impact of Giant Impacts”

2nd place: Dr. Thamali Kariyawasam, Chemical Engineering, “Harnessing genetically-modified microalgae for diabetic foot ulcer wound care”

3rd place: Dr. Jenson Price, School of Kinesiology and Health Studies, “How can we make sure the education physical activity professionals receive is inclusive and empowering for everyone?”
