Steven Maynard consults on new book about Jim Egan

Steven Maynard consulted on new Scholastic Canada book to teach children about Jim Egan, an early Canadian gay activist. Dr. Maynard previously consulted on the Historica Canada Heritage Minute about Jim Egan.

The book, Meet Jim Egan, written by Elizabeth MacLeod and illustrated by Mike Deas, is part of the Scholastic Canadian Biography series and introduces children to Egan's advocay work. Dr. Maynard consulted on historical accuracy, Canadian law's relationship to queer history, and contextualized Egan's story within the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community.
