The Gjoa Haven Oral History Project is a youth-oriented oral history program designed to facilitate intergenerational knowledge sharing between Inuit Elders and youth in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut. The project, led by Mark Stoller (Queen's) and Jennifer Ullulaq (Nattilik Heritage Society, Gjoa Haven), centres on the creation of a digital oral history archive featuring extensive interviews with local Elders and historical photographs of the community.
From November 6 – 8, 2023, GoGeomatics Canada has planned its 2023 Calgary Expo in consultation with industry, academia, association, and media partners. This new expo is the first Geomatics Technology Exposition and is distinctive to the Northern America Geo sector. One of the goals of the event is to plant the seed for the largest geomatics and geospatial intelligence trade show in Canada, featuring a comprehensive range of exhibitors, technologies, and industry insights.

In early October, Shyra and Rye Barberstock facilitated and moderated two sessions at the Adaptation Futures 2023 conference, an event seeking to mobilize all actors in the global climate change adaptation community, to facilitate knowledge exchange and co-creation among researchers, decisionmakers, practitioners, industry representatives, and communicators.
Congratulations to Yifeng Wang, Robert Way, and Jordan Beer, who were published in IOPscience on October 8, 2023. “Multi-decadal degradation and fragmentation of palsas and peat plateaus in coastal Labrador, northeastern Canada,” led by PhD Candidate Yifeng Wang, focuses on the importance of understanding recent change to permafrost peatlands in coastal Labrador as a predictor of future habitat change in northeastern Canada.
