The School of Urban and Regional Planning encourages the comparative study of Canadian cities, and its location in Kingston allows easy access to Montréal, Toronto, and Ottawa.
SURP students can easily study planning issues from a variety of small, medium, and large communities. To get you started, we take frequent walking tours in Kingston and visit the other three cities in organized field studies in our first term. These field trips directly illustrate the content of first-year courses.
Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, and Kingston are all metropolitan areas with a high quality of life, active planning programs, and a variety of urban and regional challenges. They offer a myriad of case studies for faculty and students.
