Description:

Educational Development Associates work under the supervision of Educational Developers at the CTL to design, implement, promote, and evaluate educational programming for the professional development of Teaching Assistants, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows as post-secondary teachers. In addition, EDAs develop resources and act as consultants for their peers on matters of teaching and learning, while contributing to educational research projects.

This paid on-campus position at the CTL requires a commitment of 8 hours per week from August 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025. Time will be divided between on-campus meetings and events, and independent work online. Orientation to the position will be hosted by the CTL in August.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, candidates must be registered as full-time graduate students for the 2024-2025 academic year, in any discipline at Queen’s University, and should have:

  • A keen interest in teaching and learning, and for the improvement of both in the post-secondary environment.
  • Experience as a teaching assistant (TA) and/or graduate teaching fellow (TF)
  • Evidence of educational leadership, which may include, but is not limited to:
    • Membership on a committee related to teaching and learning or
    • Experience as a Head TA, TA trainer, or TF who provided teaching mentorship to a TA or team of TAs in their role
  • Commitment to improving as a post-secondary teacher which may include, but is not limited to:
    • Completion of SGS 902 (Teaching and Learning in Higher Education) or
    • Completion of Professional Development (PUTL) modules at the CTL or
    • Participation in other formal or informal professional development related to university teaching and learning at Queen’s or in your disciplinary field
  • Effective communication skills, and
  • Commitment to enhancing Indigenization - equity, diversity, inclusivity, accessibility and anti-racism (I-EDIAA) in teaching and learning
