We encourage you to explore all your financial options to ensure you create a financial plan to cover the costs of your time at Bader College.

Queen's University offers a range of non-repayable awards and grants to help ensure that the brightest and best students can access world-class education at Bader College. Financial support is available for Canadian and non-Canadian, Queen's and non-Queen's students, at all levels of study.

The majority, but not all, of funding opportunities have associated eligibility conditions, therefore it is essential applicants consider all requirements prior to submitting an application. Please also observe any application deadlines and submission requirements.

In addition to funding available exclusively at Queen's University, Upper Year students will also find a range of funding opportunities from other institutions to support your education at Bader College. Individual institutions should be contacted directly for further information.

First Year ApplicantsAlert Box

  • A special award of up to $7,000 is available for all eligible First Year students.

  • This award is for the First Year program only, and $7,000 represents the maximum award available. 

  • NB: This award is based on financial need, and an application is required.

Upper Year ApplicantsAlert Box

  • Students may be eligible to receive up to a maximum of $5,000 in funding for the Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 terms.

  • Plus, a maximum of $4,000 is available in funding towards the Summer Term.

First Year Applicants

Automatic Admission Scholarships

Queen’s Principal’s Scholarships are given to students, who are in the top 5% of the competitive admission average for each direct-entry program. These scholarships are awarded based on your grades only, so no application is required.

  • Maximum amount: Up to $7,000 per year
  • Audience: all incoming first year students to Queen's
  • Basis of assessment: academic achievement
  • Application deadline: no application required

Major Admissions Awards

Incoming First Year students to Bader College may apply for Major Admission Awards.

  • Maximum amount: these range in value between $10,000 and $20,000 per year (varies by award)
  • Audience: all incoming first year students to Queen's
  • Basis of assessment: varies depending on the award but may include superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership. Financial need may be considered.

Tricolour Award

Incoming First Year students to Bader College may apply for an admission bursary.

  • Maximum amount: Up to $7,500 (first year only)
  • Audience: all incoming first year students to Bader College
  • Basis of assessment: financial need

Major Access Bursaries

Queen’s has recently introduced Major Access Bursaries for students studying First Year Arts and Science, including Con-Ed, and Health Sciences. You may be eligible for up to $40,000 ($10,000 per year). Similar to the Tricolour Award above, students should submit the Admission Bursary Application to be considered. Upper Year Applicants

There are a variety of funding opportunities available to all Upper Year students (Queen's and non-Queen's students) in their second or subsequent year of study. The objective of the funding program is to assist students who demonstrate financial need by meeting a portion of their basic costs for attending Bader College.

Non-Queen's students are encouraged to research options at your home institution. Please note the eligibility criteria for these awards may change without notice, and that terminology may also differ between schools.

All upper year courses at Bader College are eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), plus Awards and Bursaries are available to Queen’s University students, or students studying on a Letter Of Permission, provided they complete and submit the Bader College Bursary Application to the Queen’s Student Awards Office and meet the eligibility requirements for financial need as determined by the Student Awards Office.

Bader College Summer Study Award for History

Established in October 2022 by the Department of History. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to students who are eligible to enroll in third or fourth year in a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree program with an academic plan offered by the Department of History. Awarded to students who are registered in a minimum of 6.0 units of HIST or HIST_SUBS in the Castle Summer Plus program offered at Bader College. The 2023 Bader College Summer Study Award for History is valued at a minimum of $1,000.00 CDN per student.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Level 3 or Level 4 at the time of attending Castle Summer Plus
  • Registration in a History Degree Plan
  • Minimum GPA of 2.7

Students are encouraged to apply to the Castle Summer Plus program by February 28 2023 to be considered for this this award. All eligible students who are accepted into the Castle Summer Plus program will be automatically considered for this award.
