Your home from home
Bader Hall is our student residence, and is named after our benefactor, Dr. Alfred Bader. Residence is guaranteed, and all students at Bader College are required to live onsite. Bader Hall is our students’ home from home for the duration of their studies at the Castle, and while it is important to stress that you will not be living in the Castle, you’ll be just a five-minute walk away. Nothing beats the stunning view of the Pevensey Levels or the Castle estate’s forests on your walk to the Castle!
Bader Hall is divided into four student wings, with three floors per wing. By default, student rooms are shared, however single rooms are available upon request. Every room contains a bed, a wardrobe, a desk, a chair and a mini-fridge for students to store drinks and snacks. Our Student Life Co-ordinators also live in residence and facilitate community development, as well as social and educational programming. They are available 24 hours a day to assist our students.
There are communal washrooms on every wing, as well as all-gender washrooms and toilets throughout the building. Kitchenettes with microwave ovens, fridges, freezers, kettles and sinks are located on each floor.
Wireless internet (WiFi) is available in all bedrooms and communal areas. Ethernet connections are also available in students’ bedrooms should they wish to game in their free time.
Bader Hall offers 24-hour laundry, with card-operated washing and drying machines. You can even check the status of the machines online to see if they are currently available!
Throughout Bader Hall you’ll find a variety of different common rooms, individual and group study spaces to host study sessions, and music practice rooms for jam sessions. A popular spot in Bader Hall is Common Room C1, where you can unwind and relax with friends on our comfy couches while you play some board games, or Bader Hall's Cardio Room is a great spot for a quick run or workout in the morning or to end your day. You’ll find treadmills, an elliptical trainer, a spin bike, and two rowing machines in the Cardio Room. We can’t forget the Castle has 500 acres of beautiful grounds and running routes for our avid runners.
Connected to Bader Hall, students have access to the Sports Hall, Weight Room, and Cardio Room. The Sports Hall is home to the Castle’s intramurals and fitness classes including basketball, volleyball, indoor football, kickboxing, Zumba, kettlebell, and yoga to name a few!
Residence Agreement
When you accept your offer from Bader College, all students must sign the Residence Agreement, and are bound by the Bader College Community Standards, as well as any applicable policies. The Residence Agreement is a contract between you and Bader College and you are highly encouraged to read the Residence Agreement before signing. You can sign to say you have read and accept the Community Standards and the Residence Agreement when you fill out the Residence Form via our online portal.
Housekeeping
Common areas including washrooms, Common Rooms, and kitchenettes are cleaned by Housekeeping staff daily. Bader Hall’s Housekeeping staff do an amazing job, but we expect all students in the Bader College community to play their part in keeping their residence clean. Hand sanitiser dispensers are located throughout the building for students to use, as well as cleaning supplies for students to wipe up spills.

A combination of our reception staff and Castle Security means that the desk in Bader Reception is staffed 24/7 to help you. The team can assist with lots of everyday tasks such as:
- Booking an appointment with the on site doctor
- Letting you use the free phone at reception to call a taxi
- Selling you postage stamps, and organizing parcel and registered mail pick-ups
- Topping up your phone plans
- Booking a spot on the next mini bus
- Guest bookings
- Access to rooms and replacement keys
- Detergent and laundry soap sales for your laundry
- Filing maintenance requests
- Contacting security and the duty member of Student Services on call... and more!
