Permission for the Late Drop of an Active Course

Context and Implications to Consider

Please review and ensure that you have read and understand the notes below:

  • Courses dropped after the SOLUS drop deadline for the term/session are noted on the student transcript with a DR notation, which has no impact on Queen's GPA calculations. Exceptions are not made to this notation, and petitions to have this notation removed are not accepted or granted. (See Academic Regulation 10.3.7.)
  • Tuition refunds are not issued for courses dropped after the SOLUS drop deadline. Questions about appeals regarding tuition fee refunds are answered by the Office of the University Registrar.
  • Students receiving OSAP or any other form of financial assistance should consult with their lender/income source directly for clarity on any potential impacts that reducing their course load might have on funding eligibility.
  • International students should consult with QUIC for clarity on any potential impact on study permits and visas.
  • Varsity athletes should consult with Queen's Athletics for clarity on any potential impact on athletic eligibility requirements.
  • Concurrent Education students should consult with the Faculty of Education for clarity on any potential impact on their BEd degree's regulations and requirements.
  • Any concerns about potential impact on applications for graduate or professional schools should be directed to those specific institutions for consultation.
  • Questions about impact on academic progress through your Arts and Science degree (e.g. options for Plan Selection, eligibility for graduation) should be discussed with an Academic Advisor in the Faculty Office.
  • WARNING: Once you submit your request, the course drop will be processed and it cannot be reversed. Think carefully and do your research before you submit.
