Economics department sweeps best paper awards
Faculty and students from Queen's Economics Department have swept the top prizes given out by the Canadian Journal of Economics.
During the recently held annual conference of the Canadian Economics Association, Gregor Smith, Douglas D. Purvis Professor, and alumnus Nicolas Guillaume-Martineau (PhD’11) received the Harry Johnson Prize, awarded to the best paper published in the Canadian Journal of Economics, for their paper “Identifying fiscal policy (in)effectiveness from the differential counter cyclicality of government spending in the interwar period.”
Alex Chernoff (PhD’16) also received the Robert Mundell Prize, awarded to the best paper published in the Canadian Journal of Economics written by a young author, for his paper “Between a cap and a higher price: Modelling the price of dairy quotas under price ceiling legislation.”
