Description:

Now in its 30th season, the Gryphon Trio joins forces with celebrated Canadian clarinetist and long-time friend James Campbell, for a performance of one of the most important musical works created in the 20th century, Messiaen’s transcendent Quartet for the End of Time, with additional works by Beethoven and Bernstein.

Description:

“Sirocco is a once in a lifetime experience,” describes Plays to See. Sirocco is guest-directed by South African cellist Abel Selaocoe and has received rave reviews since its 2018 premiere. Abel Selaocoe and his band Chesaba join the UK’s Manchester Collective in a program covering everything from arrangements for solo cello to classics by Purcell and Haydn, original African music, and a collection of gorgeous Danish folk songs.

Description:

Two-time Grammy Award-winner Zakir Hussain enjoys fame not only in his native India but around the world. The Chicago Tribune says, “if there is such a thing as a tabla superstar, Zakir Hussain is it.” Hussain’s incredibly loyal and large fan base is composed of enthusiasts young and old, valuing all musical types and genres. Zakir joins us with flautist Debopriya Chatterjee Ranadive and sarangi player Sabir Khan.

Description:

A celebration of the Great American Songbook in all of its playful and sophisticated glory, is brought to life by two of this generation’s brightest stars. Armed with prodigious trumpet talent and vocal charm, Jazz at Lincoln Centre’s Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III will relive and re-imagine some of the classic partners in jazz and popular song, including Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, and Peggy Lee. Featuring songs by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many more. Joined by a who’s who of New York all-stars, this is an “unforgettable” evening of singin’ and swingin'.

Description:

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist and recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, based in New York City. They are joined by award-winning Jamaican-American violist Jordan Bak who is “a powerhouse musician, with a strong voice and compelling sound” (The Whole Note).

Recipient of the 2018 Prix d’Europe, the 2021 Choquette-Symcox Award, the 2017 Peter Mendell, Award, and a semi-finalist of the 2020 Bader & Overton Canadian Cello Competition, soloist and composer Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy has been ranked among the “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30” by CBC Music in 2018. Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy is joined by Jean-Michel Dubé, who is standing out as one of the most promising Canadian pianists in the country according to CBC / Radio-Canada.

For almost 50 years, pianist Janina Fialkowska has enchanted audiences and critics around the world. Praised for her musical integrity, refreshing natural approach, and unique piano sound, she has been hailed as “one of the Grandes Dames of piano playing” (Frankfurter Allgemeine). A venerated interpreter of the music of Chopin, she makes her long-awaited return to the Isabel, sharing the music that made her famous.
