  Research News

In late October, the Office of Partnerships and Innovation (OPI) relocated its operations from Innovation Park to a new coworking building (Seaway Coworking) in downtown Kingston at 310 Bagot Street. This new Queen’s footprint, named the “Queen’s Startup Runway,” can accommodate up to 20 team members from the OPI’s Research Partnerships Unit, Technology Transfer Unit, and its Regional Innovation Ecosystem Unit, as well as numerous startups and entrepreneurs who are participating in the OPI’s new incubation and acceleration programs. The downtown footprint provides a more strategic location for the OPI – it is within walking distance of main campus and allows the OPI to be co-located with key partners including St. Lawrence College, Launch Lab, and the Southeastern Ontario Angel Network. It is also in close proximity to other key partners including the Kingston Economic Development Corporation, the City of Kingston, and the KEYS Job Centre. The OPI’s Research Contracts Unit continues to be located on main campus in Fleming Hall (Jemmett Wing). The Queen’s NanoFab Kingston (NFK) laboratory continues to be located at Innovation Park, as does a large group of staff from FHS who are working on the Elentra project.
