The Student Commission of Canada is promoting Take Our Kids to Work Day on November 6th, 2024 and local high schools may be participating in the program. Although there may not be a centralized formal Take Your Kids to Work Day program at the university, it is still important what we ensure the health and safety of the visiting students that come to campus and ensure that we have completed due diligence on the activities they may participate in and locations they visit.

To facilitate this the Department of Environmental Health and Safety is distributing the Take Our Kids to Work Application form (PDF, 231 KB). It is required that employees who intend to have a child visit a Queen's location on November 6th complete the form and submit it to the Department of Environmental Health and Safety or review and approval. Forms should be submitted by email no later than Thursday, October 24th.

To support the health and safety of these visitors consider these ideas and additional resources.

  • First step, it is required that you complete the application form to be signed by your supervisor and EHS.
  • Plan to provide an orientation the same as you would a new colleague, including completing orientation checklist.
  • Tour campus and buildings, being sure to point out any hazards and security procedures they need to know to stay safe.
  • Introduce these Young Worker resources as they consider their first employment experiences.
  • You may want to also include online virtual events provided by Student Commission of Canada as part of their day. Simply register on their site https://www.studentscommission.ca/events/tok22024/
