Queen’s is implementing enhanced security for several campus venues throughout St. Patrick’s Day, and the days leading up to it, in alignment with Queen’s Alcohol Policy.
In response to the potential for large unsanctioned gatherings in the near-campus neighbourhood on March 16th and 17th, extra security will be in place to ensure no unauthorized alcohol is brought into Mitchell Hall, Queen’s Centre, Stauffer Library or the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
Individuals showing visible signs of over-intoxication or appear to be carrying open alcohol, who enter these university facilities may, at the discretion of security personnel, be asked to open bags for visual inspection, so security can verify no containers of alcoholic beverages are being brought into the facilities. Bag checks would only occur in these circumstances.
We appreciate the cooperation of the Queen’s community as we work to maintain a safe and inclusive campus environment.
