Emergencies can happen at any time and without warning. Be ready.
- Campus Security is not always the best option to address off-campus neighbourhood issues and municipal Emergency Services is often the best option.
- Don’t be afraid to call 911, if it's an emergency.
- For situations that don't require a call to 911, call the Kingston Police Services non-emergency line #613-549-4660 for assistance.
- If in doubt, call the non-emergency line for Campus Security (#613-533-6733) and they will do their best to further direct you.
- Download the SeQure app as it provides quick access to campus security resources, including the campus security emergency line.
- The On-Campus ‘real-time’ Emergency Notification Systems (ENS) disseminate clear information before, during and after emergency situations.
- A public address system using a siren signal followed by voice instructions will alert the campus community to take shelter. If it is safe to do so, check one of the current Emergency Notification platforms for information and instructions.
- Every household needs an emergency plan. It will help you and your housemates know what to do in case of an emergency.
- Your housemates may not be together when an emergency occurs. Plan to meet or how to contact one another, and discuss what you would do in different situations. To learn about risks relevant to your community, visit the Get Prepared Website.
