The MID collects data and evaluates the minority condition at the individual and associational levels of analysis. Minority associational life in majoritarian states is an essential aspect of the minority condition and of their democratic agency. However, it is not the only aspect. The MID complements existing research on ethnic minorities and adds a flexible framework for knowledge generation and sharing about the minority condition in majoritarian states.
