I was a an M.Sc. student in Mathematics at Queen's University from 2009-2011. Those years were enormously influential to me as a mathematician. I was lucky enough to meet, work with, and be challenged and inspired by many other students who have gone on to become great mathematicians (and whose work I'm still inspired by). As a graduate student at Queen's, I was encouraged to take part in several seminars and reading courses on various topics outside of the usual curriculum. My M.Sc. advisor and her Calabi-Yau manifolds seminar introduced me to topics that are closely related to my research to this day.
"I have yet to find an institution whose faculty members are as inviting and energetic as those I met at Queen's."
Andrew Harder
Of all of the places that I've studied and worked in the past decade or so, I have yet to find an institution whose faculty members are as inviting and energetic as those I met at Queen's. The warm atmosphere, filled with wonderful teachers and mentors, was exactly what I needed as a young mathematician.
