The Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently has about 31 regular faculty members. There are also 22 faculty members cross-appointed from other departments and universities and 11 post-doctoral fellows. As well, our graduate program includes approximately 50 students.
The Department is located in Jeffery Hall on University Avenue. Locate Jeffery Hall with Google Maps. The building was designed for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and contains the offices of all of the faculty members in the department.
The Department has a number of research seminars, which play an important role in our research and graduate programs. These seminars often have outside speakers, but more frequently consist of a series of lectures by faculty members, graduate students, or visitors.
In addition to the research seminars, we have two colloquium series. The Departmental Colloquium convenes on Friday afternoons with talks usually given by visiting mathematicians.
