Funded by Rideau Hall Foundation and administered by Universities Canada, Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships program (QES) was created to improve global talent exchange between Canada and other nations.
Queen's University was selected to host a QES 2025 scholarship project titled Transdisciplinary Knowledge Translation for Social Transformation: Building Climate Resilient Communities through Co-development.
Over the next three years, Queen’s will send twenty-four (24) undergraduate students from Smith Engineering, Global Development Studies and Health Sciences to Botswana, Colombia, and India to undertake 8 to 12 week community based resilience projects. We will also welcome eight (8) graduate students from our partner institutions to undertake a one-semester visit to Queen’s.
The scholars will also participate in tailor made programming at Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre on entrepreneurship to enhance their professional skills.
Applications are open for the first outgoing QES scholarship cohort: a 8-week undergraduate research opportunity in Colombia in 2025.
Earn 6.0 Queen’s units at the 400-level while contributing to meaningful community-driven research.
Engage in an 8-week research experience in partnership with Universidad Autónoma de Occidente (UAO) in Cali, Colombia.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Cali, the ‘Salsa Capital of the World,’ and experience Colombia’s diverse heritage.

QES 2025: $6.2 million in program funding from the prestigious QES program will support international collaborative projects at 22 Canadian universities and colleges. All projects will focus on the adaptation, response and resilience to a changing climate.
