QES LogoQueen’s University has been successful in its application in the 2025 Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships program (QES) call for proposals for a project titled: Transdisciplinary Knowledge Translation for Social Transformation: Building Climate Resilient Communities through Co-development. The project aims to provide future leaders with the skills required to tackle the challenges of building climate-resilient communities.

Over the next three years, Queen’s will send twenty-four (24) undergraduate students from Smith Engineering, Global Development Studies and Health Sciences to Botswana, Colombia, and India to undertake 8 to 12 week community based resilience projects. We will also welcome eight (8) graduate students from our partner institutions to undertake a one-semester visit to Queen’s. The scholars will also participate in tailor made programming at Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre on entrepreneurship to enhance their professional skills.

The QES program aims to develop the next generation of innovative leaders and community builders by providing enriched academic, professional, and cross-cultural experiences and by facilitating lasting local and global community engagement. QES 2025 is funded by Rideau Hall Foundation and administered by Universities Canada. It closely aligns with the vision set out in Queen's Global Engagement Strategic Plan, particularly as both are guided by the values of mutually beneficial partnership, equity, and global impact.

Queen’s is proud to be developing the QES program with the following partners:

  • Autonomous University of the West (Colombia)
  • Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee (India)
  • University of Botswana (Botswana)
