The Matariki Network of Universities (MNU) launched an inaugural call for research seed funding to develop a stronger relationship in globally relevant fields of research between its partners.
Projects selected demonstrate alignment to MNU’s five guiding principles and values.
The following projects are the winners of the 2023-2024 Matariki Seed Fund:
- Alison Morehead (Art History & Art Conservation) (Queen’s University) in partnership with Uppsala University and Durham University. Project title: Creating Cultural Heritage for the Medical and Health Humanities
- Sonja Bjelobaba (Uppsala University) in partnership with UWA, Queen’s University (Kelley Packalen, Smith School of Business), Durham University, and University of Otago. Project title: Ethical use of Gen-AI in Higher Education
- Ed Llewellin (Durham University) in partnership with University of Otago and Uppsala University. Project title: Understanding the evolution of basaltic fissure eruptions to mitigate their hazard
- Aaron Ludlow (UWA) in partnership with Durham University, Dartmouth College, and Queen’s University (Kristine Spekkens, Physics, Engineering Physics & Astronomy). Project title: The SWAN Universe Project: Simulations for Wallaby and the Nearby Universe
- David Prior (University of Otago) in partnership with University of Tübingen and Durham University. Project title: The role of shear margins in rapid ice sheet acceleration
The next call for the Matariki Seed Fund will take place in Autumn 2024.
