Research interests: I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Gender Studies at Queen’s University, researching how institutional policies, practices, and norms shape sex education delivery in Ontario Catholic secondary schools. My research is driven by my own experiences growing up in the Catholic school system, where sex education was limited, stigmatized, and rooted in abstinence-only teachings. This lack of inclusive and comprehensive sex education left many unanswered questions and reinforced harmful silences around sexuality, gender identity, and sexual health.

Now, as both a researcher and educator, I am passionate about ensuring future generations receive the sex education I never had. I believe sex education should be inclusive, consent-focused, free from fear and stigma, and provide young people with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed, healthy, and empowered decisions. Beyond my research, I provide sex education presentations in Catholic high schools and work in sexual health outreach. Through my research and advocacy, I hope to challenge exclusionary practices and create safer, more affirming learning environments.
