Mélinda Pierre-Paul is an interdisciplinary researcher and PhD student in Gender Studies. She holds a BFA and MA in Art History and a Graduate Diploma in Communications from Concordia University. Mélinda’s research examines contemporary visual art by Black diasporic women that grapples with what it means to live Blackness boundlessly in the still-unfolding afterlives of slavery. Adopting a Black feminist art historical praxis, she explores the liberatory lessons offered through the radical aesthetics, storytelling practices, and representational strategies of Black women artists.
