Experience Queen's is a new initiative through Employee Wellness Services which highlights a place on campus. Staff and faculty will have a chance to learn about difference places on campus and to connect with colleagues.

This month, we are featuring the Interfaith Room in Mitchell Hall (210 Mitchell Hall).

Join Interfaith Chaplain Erin for an hour of creativity in exploration of the spiritual dimension of mental health. Erin will lead us through a time of grounding and guided creative arts meditation. No artistic skills required; we will focus our creativity on the process not the final product.

Meet acclaimed producer and Queen’s alumni Ted Oakes (virtually) and explore the world of natural history documentaries and their impact on conservation. See the possibilities of your STEM degree beyond academia or traditional industry routes.

Proceeds will go towards a conservation cause and/or future Department of Biology events.

Description:

Choosing a program is one of the largest decisions students make in university. It’s important to make an informed choice – but it doesn’t have to stress you out. Majors Night was created to help you ask questions and learn about each Arts and Science program.  It is an annual event.

Members from each Department Student Council (DSC) will be available to answer questions about their experiences with the programs offered by each department. You’ll be able to compare the different programs you’re considering and explore whether they fit your interests and future goals.

Description:

This 2-day in-person training aims to improve mental health literacy through greater depth and breadth of understanding of mental health issues.  The purpose of MHFA is to teach participants how to best assist someone who is showing signs of a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. 

All participants must attend both full days to receive a certificate of completion.  Participants will also receive program materials including a workbook.

This session prepares participants to recognize people who are having thoughts of suicide by applying the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe) and connect them to a suicide first-aid intervention caregiver.  Powerful videos illustrate the importance of suicide alertness, while discussion and practice simulate learning.

All participants must attend the full 3 hours to receive their certificate of completion.  Participants will also receive program materials including a workbook.
