Every effort is made to make the process private and respectful of the personal information that may be involved. However, there are times when it is not possible for aspects of the process to remain completely confidential (e.g. when significant risk exists). Promising complete confidentiality is not recommended but rather a commitment that the ACT operates with a high degree of privacy and is guided by FIPPA regulations.
All Care Support Services records are stored securely. Designated faculty or staff entering a referral are not able to see if other referrals have been submitted. Faculty and/or staff who are making referrals will be required to enter their names in case the Intake Coordinator needs to consult with them.
Care works closely with Queen’s Assessment and Care Team (ACT). The ACT is a group of university officials who meet to coordinate services for students who may be experiencing barriers or distress. In some cases, Care may share information with this team in order to assist in assessing concerns and coordinating resources to address those concerns.
