Donor Story:
This Award has been established by the Afro-Caribe Community Foundation of Kingston to memorialize the unique contributions that Alfie Pierce has made to Queen's University at a period in Canadian history when "people of colour" were marginalized. The expectation is that students who receive this Award will use the education received at Queen's to effect positive social change in Canadian Society.
Alfie Pierce (1874 - 1952) was an accomplished black athlete and lacrosse player who dedicated his loyalty and services to the Queen's Community for approximately sixty years.
