In honour of Valentine’s Day, we surprised some Queen’s couples with framed graduation photos to celebrate their love stories. One of these couples is Ivayla and Ian MacDonald, both Com'09.
Ivayla shares with us, “Ian and I met on the first day of Queen's Commerce frosh week at what was affectionately known as the Goodes Hall Dance Party. By mid-October, we had started dating. Ten years later, we got married, and three years after that, we had our first baby -- our little boy, Eaton. Looking back at our 15 year relationship, Queen's holds a very special place in our hearts. Not only is it where we met, but it is where our relationship blossomed, where we found life-long friends, and where we made many priceless memories.”
Kayla and Spenser Heard, both Com’10, also enjoyed a surprise delivery from Queen’s to celebrate their love story.
They told us, “We actually weren’t friends until fourth year. When it turned out we’d both be moving to Calgary and working for Shell after graduation, we met up for coffee at the Starbucks on Division. The rest, as they say, is history! We’ve been on lots of adventures, but expanding the family has definitely been our best!” Kayla and Spenser currently live in Alberta with their growing family, two-year-old son Jack, and two-week-old baby Henry.
We hope all of our Queen’s couples enjoy a very happy Valentine’s Day!
