Shelagh Rogers, Artsci’77, LLD'19 and Rico Garcia, Artsci’13, have agreed to reprise their roles as co-hosts of our virtual Homecoming.
Award-winning broadcast journalist Rogers and Queen's University Alumni Association (QUAA) President Garcia will share the reins as Homecoming co-hosts, and lead some of the mainstage interactive online events taking place on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Rogers is the host and producer of CBC Radio One's The Next Chapter, Chancellor of the University of Victoria, and proud Queen’s alumna. “Queen’s gave me so much: research skills, a sense of discipline, a career in radio (thank you, CFRC) and most significantly, lifelong friendships. I’m so excited to be co-hosting Homecoming with my friend Rico. Last year’s Homecoming was very moving. This year's will be powerful, too. Nothing tops that feeling of community,” says Rogers.
“It was an honour to host last year’s inaugural virtual Homecoming with Shelagh and I look forward to sharing the stage with her again this year,” adds Garcia. “The Queen’s community has been a huge source of support for me, and I can’t wait to reconnect with Queen’s community members from all around the globe.”
Garcia has served on the QUAA Board for six years. He is a past recipient of the QUAA Outstanding Student Award and a past recipient of the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award.
For the second year in a row, Homecoming celebrations will be held virtually to ensure the safety of all Queen’s community members and those around us. The virtual format opens the door for many of our global alumni to attend and reconnect with their fellow classmates from the comfort of their homes.
Homecoming takes place over the course of four days and will include a variety of live and on-demand virtual content featuring prominent Queen’s alumni, staff, faculty, students, and more.
Register today for Homecoming, Oct. 14-17.
