Queen’s University shines bright with silver and bronze wins at the CCAE’s Prix d’Excellence Awards

Queen’s University has earned top accolades across multiple categories in this year’s CCAE Prix d’Excellence Awards. These awards recognize outstanding achievements across Canadian post-secondary institutions in alumni affairs, public relations, communications, marketing, development, advancement services, stewardship, and overall institutional advancement.

Silver: Best Alumni Event 

Bagels and Bequests 

The Queen’s Gift Planning team partnered with the Alumni Relations Regional strategy to launch a fresh series of estate planning breakfast events. Hosted in four major cities – Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, and Kingston – these events offered a highly impactful way to connect with alumni. This initiative provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships.

Silver: Best Creativity on a Shoestring 

Picture Yourself on the Cover of the QAR 

In 2023, the Queen's Alumni Review team aimed to enhance engagement and create an interactive experience with our alumni. This led to a photoshoot at Homecoming with willing alumni who received 'mock-up' magazine covers with their image.

Black Studies QAR Cover 

In the Spring 2023 issue of the Queen's Alumni Review, the magazine showcased its focus on inclusive storytelling by highlighting the profound impact of Queen’s Black Studies program. The team dedicated the cover story of this issue to exploring the narratives of those integral to the program’s foundation and development, providing a platform for their voices and experiences.

Silver: Best Marketing/Communications Initiative 

Smith Engineering Teaser Campaign 

In November 2023, Queen’s unveiled a historic announcement: our Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science would be renamed in honour of a transformative $100-million gift from Stephen J.R. Smith. To celebrate this, a comprehensive teaser campaign was created that sparked unprecedented excitement among our alumni. As the Chair of Queen’s External Relations and Development Committee said, the university “… set a new standard for gift announcements in the communications and marketing leading up to the event.”

Bronze: Best Indigenous/Reconciliation Initiative 

Queen’s Weeneebayko Health Education Program Announcement 

In February 2023, a momentous announcement was made in Moosonee and Moose Factory, Ont. Representatives from the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA), Queen’s University, and the Mastercard Foundation came together to unveil the Queen’s Weeneebayko Health Education Program. This partnership, supported by a historic $31-million donation from the Mastercard Foundation – the largest ever for Indigenous education in Canadian post-secondary history – aims to revolutionize health care in Northeastern Ontario. It will also significantly enhance educational and employment prospects for Indigenous youth in the region.
