An Oscar-nominated filmmaker, an executive tackling Canada’s housing crisis, and a Bank of Canada governor are among the 10 Queen’s alumni who made the Maclean’s 2024 Power List, which ranks 100 Canadians shaping our country.
The recipients were divided into 10 categories including education innovators, health-care advocates, and tech entrepreneurs.

Dr. Graham Carr, Artsci’77, MA’79 – President, Concordia University

As president of Concordia University in Montreal, Dr. Carr is tackling planned tuition increases for out-of-province students in Quebec head on, with a lawsuit that contends the move violates provincial and federal charters.
Gillian Hadfield, Artsci’83 – Director, Schwartz Reisman Institute of Technology and Society
