Biosciences Complex green house

Biology Department: Biosciences Complex Tours

Join the Biology Department for a one-hour tour of the Biosciences Complex as they showcase what is happening in Biology on campus! This all-ages event is an opportunity to learn what's new with the department and explore the sophisticated equipment, high-tech laboratories, and the latest in teaching and learning facilities.

Our tiny conservatory in the Phytotron Facility houses more than 150 tropical, subtropical and Mediterranean plant species from a wide range of taxonomic lineages and biogeographic regions, and includes orchids, palms, bananas, bromeliads cacti, and many more. This remarkable display of evolutionary diversity is used to great effect in several undergraduate biology courses and is the main attraction for visitors to the Phytotron.

Attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the Department of Biology. Your gift supports the important work that takes place every day in labs and classrooms across campus and offers students outstanding learning experiences including field courses across the globe and an intense and rewarding undergraduate thesis course.  If you are unable to attend, you can still make a gift through the Department of Biology.

Please register in advance, space is limited. Registration closes October 1, 2024.
