The Role of a Queen's University Councillor

University Councillors are advisors and ambassadors for Queen’s and as such, actively participate in the annual meeting of the Council and ongoing Council business during the year. Councillors may serve on Council committees and/or task forces as well as other University advisory groups, and two University Councillors are elected annually to the Board of Trustees.

For additional information on the role of University Councillors, please refer to the University Councillor Role Description (as approved by Council in 2020), which outlines the expectations of a Councillor.

If you are a prospective University Councillor and would like additional information regarding becoming a member of University Council and expectations of Councillors, the Secretariat would be pleased to coordinate an opportunity for you to speak with a current Councillor.
