Upper-Year Peer Mentor Program

The Upper-Year Peer Mentor Program is an upper year support program delivered by the Student Experience Office. The program is designed to match graduate and upper-year peer mentors with Queen's students who are second-year and above who believe that they would benefit from the support of a Mentor.

Transition does not stop after the first year. The goal of the program is to help students continue to develop the skills they need to be successful at university. Mentors form meaningful relationships with their mentees to provide support and model university skills and mental health-coping strategies. The program aims to build confidence, encourage healthy lifestyles, and contribute to a satisfying university experience.

If you're a second-year student or above, registration is now open! Fill out the form to request a Peer Mentor!

Requesting a mentor is easy! The first step is submitting a request for a Mentor through the online application form. We will then search for a Mentor that meets your needs and interests and will reach out with a match.

Mentor applications are now closed! Check back in Winter 2024!

There’s perhaps no better time to engage in mentorship, step up for your peers and stand out as a leader. The program is designed to match graduate and upper-year peer mentors with Queen's students who are second-year and above who believe that they would benefit from the support of a Mentor.

Why be an Upper Year Peer Mentor?

  • Connection – Mentoring second-year students and above can help them feel less alone in this isolating time
  • Community – communities come together and create networks of support
  • Success – Leaders step up for their peers
  • Requests for a Peer Mentor are accepted from September until the end of the academic year in April.
  • Students may hear about the program from a peer, academic advisor, counsellor, learning strategist or a faculty/staff member. Students may also self-refer into the program.
  • You and your mentor will set mutually-convenient regular meetings.
  • You may meet weekly for up to one hour.
  • You will discuss needs and interests, set goals and create a plan to achieve your goals.
