Dear RAQ Members,
By now, we hope you have received the mail-out package from Queen’s Human Resources which outlines the move to the University’s new benefits carrier Manulife, effective July 1st, 2020. This package includes important information on new optional benefits coverage available to current retirees.
We know that many of you have questions about these new benefits as well as questions about the process you will use to opt in to receive these enhancements. If you are looking for more information on new benefits, we encourage you to visit the HR website http://www.queensu.ca/humanresources/manulife-implementation/retiree-benefits.
Additionally, we have been advised that Human Resources is putting together an online presentation for retirees which will highlight changes to the benefits plan, key dates for selecting new optional benefits (such as 100% out-of-country medical coverage, optional dental, and optional life insurance) and where to go if you still have questions or concerns. We expect this presentation to be available next week. As soon as we receive this material, we will let retirees know how to access it.
In the meantime, if you need help navigating the Manulife online tool or if you have questions about your benefits coverage, you can call Manulife Customer Care Centre at 1-800-268-6195, Monday to Friday from 8 am until 8 pm. We note as well that the online tool is only available until July 1st, 2020. After this date, you will be able to complete the opt-in process during the period of July 1 – September 30 by contacting Manulife directly.
We regret that our RAQ Administrator Cheryl Descent is not in a position to answer your questions about new benefits. If you need assistance in signing up, we strongly urge you to contact Manulife. For more general
questions about benefits, please contact the Queen’s Human Resources department at benefits.project@queensu.ca.
Sincerely,
Diane Kelly
President, Retirees Association of Queen’s (RAQ)
