The Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity (CSDD) focuses on democratic governance in situations of diversity. Current research is interested in diversity that is caused by (1) the co-existence of indigenous communities, themselves diverse, and other communities, usually with more advanced economies, that settles the land much later; ii) immigration, where individuals of different cultures migrate from their country of origin to a new home in which they settle; and iii) when states are comprised of several sizable ethnic communities, each living on its homeland, with some seeing themselves as distinct nations.
