About Ammar
I am Ammar. I received my BSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Nile University in 2024, with a GPA of 3.85 (Highest Honors). I was very interested in Electromagnetics and Optics throughout my undergraduate studies. I was heavily inspired by Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud, my undergraduate advisor and supervisor. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I focused on courses related to Electromagnetics, Microwaves, Photonics, and Semiconductors. My graduation thesis, supervised by Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud, involved designing a metasurface for lensing and beam steering. Furthermore, in my last year of studies, I joined the Optical Communication and Laser Lab at Ain Shams University, under the supervision of Dr. Hussein Kotb, as a Junior Research Assistant. My research at the OCLL focused primarily on Silicon Photonics.
I was very lucky to have the opportunity to join the Shastri Lab at Queen's University. My research will focus primarily on Metamaterials, Silicon Photonics, and their application in Neuromorphic Computing. I will start my MASc studies in Fall 2024. I can't wait!
