Congratulations on your student’s admission to Queen’s University! 

We understand the important role you’ve played as a parent or supporter in preparing your student to attend university, and we want to work with you to continue to support them on this new adventure. That’s why we have First-Year Foundation – programming that starts this summer and gives your student online and in-person opportunities to build their community, support their transition, and find their path to success for their first year.

As parents and supporters, we also have resources specific for you integrated throughout First-Year Foundation, including two webinars designed specifically for you!

Supporting Your Student: A Webinar For Parents of First Generation Students
July 24, 2024, 6:00-7:00pm ET

• Parents - if you did not attend college or university in Canada, you may have additional questions and concerns about your students' upcoming start at Queen's. Join Cathy Keates, Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, who has worked with university students for over 25 years, and was also a first generation university student herself (many years ago!) for a discussion about some common experiences of being first in a family to attend university and what can be helpful for you to know as parents. Leave with the confidence that you can be a great support to your student, whether you've had a university experience yourself or not.

• Join Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs Ann Tierney and upper year students for their advice on how you can support your student's transition to university life at Queen's. Get your pre-arrival questions answered, and learn how to stay connected to the campus community throughout the year!
