The following courses can be found on this page:

  1. Module 1: Introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research Design
  2. Module 2: Developing Inclusive Research Teams
  3. Module 3: Embedding EDI in Knowledge Mobilization, Knowledge Translation, and Data Management

Note: Ensure you have 60–minutes of uninterrupted time to complete each module.  Completing the modules in less than 60-minutes will result in an INVALID error.  The modules will eventually time–out due to inactivity. Refreshing the page after time–out will cause previous progress to be lost and you will need to complete the module again.

Module 1: Introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research Design.  This module is designed specifically for individual researchers and their research team members. This module is designed for all researchers, at every career stage, and recognizes that researchers are at different levels of engaging with equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). As researchers, you are key influencers in changing the culture of research to better encompass guiding principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Prerequisite None.

Module 2: Developing Inclusive Research Teams. Equity, diversity, and inclusion strengthens research communities across all disciplines and sectors by enhancing the quality, social relevance, and impact of research. Embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion in all facets of research design, team development, and knowledge mobilization is a key priority among universities and Tri-Agency research councils. This module about “Developing Inclusive Research Teams” is the second in a series of three modules on how to embed equity, diversity and inclusion in research processes and practices.  It provides a foundation for researchers to achieve research excellence by developing plans for recruiting and retaining diverse highly qualified research professionals with the guidance on how to build a more inclusive research culture that fosters a sense of belonging among research team members.

Prerequisite: Module 1: Introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research Design.

Module 3:  Embedding EDI in Knowledge Mobilization, Knowledge Translation, and Data Management.  Knowledge mobilization, translation, and data management are crucial components that should be reflected upon at the earliest stages of research design and integrated into the implementation of the research project. Verifying and validating the relevance of your research throughout the project is done in different ways depending on your research environment and is also a way to plan for research impact.  This module is designed to assist researchers in developing knowledge mobilization, translation and data management plans that embed equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.

Prerequisite: Module 1: Introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research Design
