The Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) is seeking nominations for the 2024 Chancellor A. Charles Baillie Teaching Award.

The most prestigious teaching award at Queen’s, the award recognizes undergraduate or graduate or professional teaching that has had an outstanding influence on the quality of student learning at Queen's University. Recipients are selected by a panel consisting of their peers.

“Preparing a nomination is not just about acknowledging the exceptional contributions of an instructor – it’s also a celebration of the community of outstanding educators whose collective efforts elevate the academic experience at Queen’s University,” says Gavan Watson, Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning.

Established in 2003 through gifts from Chancellor Emeritus Charles Baillie and TD Bank, the Chancellor A. Charles Baillie Teaching Award is open to all current Queen’s faculty members (full-time and part-time) at any stage of their teaching careers regardless of discipline, program, level, or terms of appointment. Instructors may be nominated by a peer or academic administrator or may self-nominate by completing the application form.

“Teaching at Queen’s University is supported by the work of dedicated educators across disciplines, who affect in significant and meaningful ways the learning experiences and success of students at our institution,” says Yasmine Djerbal, Associate Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning. “This award recognizes educators who have gone above and beyond to help our institution cultivate teaching excellence and educational leadership. Officially acknowledged during convocation, award recipients also receive an $8,000 prize.”

The deadline for nominations is April 22, 2024.
