Thrive Week begins on Monday, Oct. 30 and this year’s focus is compassion. This theme underscores the importance of supporting our own wellbeing while demonstrating compassion towards others, and by fostering empathy and kindness, we can create a thriving community at Queen’s.
The week’s events are aimed at building positive mental health and wellness through discussion, learning, skill development, and resource sharing. With Thrive Week just days away, employees are encouraged to explore featured in-person and virtual events and opportunities including:
- Learn to Listen: strategies to improve listening skills and understand the importance of listening as a critical component of the communication process. Register online.
- Always an Athlete: discover practical strategies and assessments to help maintain movement and rediscover the fun in your exercise routine. Register online.
- Feel Better Strategies that Work: an engaging presentation on happiness, resiliency, and emotional self-regulation. Register online.
- Buzzing with Flavor: A exploratory honey tasting and celebration of pollinators with the Queen’s apiary. Register online.
- Emotional Intelligence: learn the value of emotional intelligence in your personal and professional life, and how a deeper understanding of self and others can enhance our relationships, increasing empathy and compassion. Register online.
- Richardson Stadium Tour: behind-the-scenes experience of Richardson Stadium, game day operations, and the newly opened Lang Pavilion. Register online.

- Compassion in Action Campaign - simple, everyday acts and gestures that demonstrate compassion in our lives. Share how you cultivate compassion on the Digital Wall of Compassion, or download a poster that includes your compassionate acts.
Queen’s employees can also enjoy a free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at one of the university’s participating food outlets on Friday, Nov. 3, courtesy of the Office of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor. Reusable mugs are encouraged. A complete list of participating locations is available on the HR Intranet.
