Convocation is a capstone event – a celebration of graduates’ academic journey by Queen’s, their families, and friends.

The Office of the University Registrar is looking for volunteers to support the ceremonies to ensure everything runs smoothly for all participants and guests.

The university is celebrating spring 2023 graduates at seven ceremonies in Grant Hall on May 26, and at the Leon’s Centre, June 20-23. It takes 40+ team members at every ceremony to manage all of the logistics

Shifts are approx. 2 ½ hours. Roles include:

  • graduate check-in
  • assisting convocation marshals with pre-ceremony graduate assembly and line ups
  • welcoming guests
  • VIP and guest accommodations check-in

Staff and faculty members who wish to participate, at one or more ceremony, are asked to speak with their manager, as appropriate, and sign up here by May 12.

Individuals will receive an email with their personalized schedule details and instructions for their assigned role(s) in mid-May for the May 26 ceremony, and mid-June for the Leon’s Centre.
