Queen’s United Way has set a fundraising goal of $450,000 for its annual campaign in support of the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.

The overall campaign goal is $3.95 million to help support 50 partner agencies.

Queen’s donors play a critical role in supporting more than 71,000 individuals in the community through the campaign. These essential funds are critical to supporting programs that help the university advance the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) of No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Gender Equality, and Quality and Education in the community.

The largest workplace and retiree campaign for KFL&A United Way accounts for more than 10 per cent of the overall goal and is following a record-setting campaign last year.

“The United Way funds programs that provide essential resources to thousands of individuals in the local community and it is vital for supporting their wellbeing,” says Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane, a Campaign Cabinet member for the United Way KFL&A. “As need continues to grow, I’m proud that the university can come together and support this important work not just financially, but also through volunteering our time and energy. I encourage everyone to support United Way in whatever way they can. Together, we can facilitate change and impact many lives.”

Community impact

Queen’s staff, faculty, and retirees are leaders in the community. A report by Deloitte showed that Queen’s community members annually raise more than $1 million to support local causes while students put in thousands of volunteer hours with local agencies and programs.

The Queen's University United Way Campaign is run by a volunteer committee with support from champions in departments, faculties, and schools across campus.
