2022 TELEFILM TALENT TO WATCH PROGRAM

Compete for up to $250,000 towards your first feature-length film

Expression of Interest Deadline: February 4, 2022 (If you meet the requirements outlined above and are interested in applying through Queen’s, please email talentfund@filminkingston.ca to confirm your intention to submit.)

Queen’s Film & Media is excited to be a designated industry partner on the 2022 Telefilm Canada Talent to Watch Program.  Alumni who have graduated from the Film & Media program within the last 5 years are invited to compete for up to $250,000 in financing for fiction feature films or $150,000 for documentaries to realize the dream of producing their first feature-length film. 

The Kingston Film Office offers an additional contribution of $25,000 for dramatic features or $15,000 for documentary features along with in-kind support towards any successful Talent to Watch production shot primarily in Kingston.

OVERVIEW OF KEY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Feature length projects must be 75 minutes or longer, may be fictional or documentary, and must be produced in English, French or any Indigenous language
  • Projects must have a budget ranging between $150,000 and $500,000
  • Key members of the creative team (Producer, Writer and Director) must be emerging talent. They must have previously produced, directed and/or written at least one short film (30 minutes or less), but must not have previously held the same key position in a feature length film
  • The Director of the project must be a Queen’s Film & Media alumni within the past 5 years. The producer and writer may not be alumni, provided that they match the emerging talent criteria listed above *
  • The key members of the creative team must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents
