A Sacred fire will be held at City Park to honour the survivors and those lost to the residential school system.
About this event
A sacred Fire will be lit at city park at 12 and close at 6 pm. a small meal of Strawberry Drink, fry bread & venison stew will be served at 1 pm. Medicines, tobacco ties and paper hearts will be available for offerings.
Community members can drop by for ceremony, connection, and food. Tickets are not necessary to attend this event.
Orange Shirt Day was created as an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy. It honours the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, celebrates resilience and affirms a commitment that every child matters.
