Trinda celebrates Sam

Trinda & SamI am honouring my good friend, Sam, because we’re lab mates at Queen’s University, both in the same graduate program together, and we have been both mentors and mentees to each other throughout the program, both in formal and informal ways. And I just wouldn’t be able to get through the program without her. She has been my consistent mentor/friend/support person both in a studying and academic capacity and also as a very good friend.

Antara celebrates Juliana

Antara & JulianaJuliana is a very kind person; she has a very good heart. Even if she has a very tight schedule, she will make time for someone in need of help. And she will always be there to listen and share. I have always seen her be helpful to other graduate students - whether they needed any technical guidance related to the training with equipment, or if they were struggling with their research project, or their relationship with the supervisor, etc. In general, if there was any sort of frustrating or difficult situation in the grad students' life - she would be there to support them, like she has supported me. I found her equally empathetic and supportive to the undergraduates as well when she is teaching. I feel fortunate to have her around.

Yara and Baraa are two members of SPHR (Solidarity with Palestinian Human Rights) and their passion for social justice, and their commitment to liberation and solidarity across borders inspire me everyday! They pour their hearts and souls into what they believe in, and continue to resist amidst the heaviness of their struggles. Thank you for showing us the way!

Yara - 4th year undergrad in Biochemistry
Baraa - 2nd year PhD in Gender Studies

I have yet to encounter anyone who operates at such a high level of integrity as Henna, a remarkable individual in the Queen's MD program. She is a beacon of kindness and selflessness - she places an incredibly high priority on tending to the needs of her community and peers. Her intelligence, compassion, and her bravery when speaking up about issues she witnesses sets her apart as an exemplary role model.

2nd year Doctor of Medicine

Dakota was the TA in my Latin class in 2023-24. She was always very supportive, helpful, knowledgeable, and,of course, friendly. In tutorials, she would encourage our skills and recognize how hard we were working, and was almost like our Latin cheerleader. I have really enjoyed getting to know her, and I wish her all the best after she gets her Masters.

3rd year Masters, Classics
