As mentioned in 2022/2023 Planning timeline, we are planning for the week of March 21 to be in person and to serve as the official launch of our 2022-23 planning cycle with the management team.

We’ve shortened the planning cycle to five weeks to streamline the process. We’ve also structured it to connect closer to our strategic priorities. The planning process will see many of us working in cross-functional teams to collaboratively build plans in four areas:

  • Alumni engagement
  • Fundraising
  • Stewardship
  • Operations

The functional teams will meet to build plans, including core and annual objectives related to 2022-23 strategic priorities. These will be determined the week of Mar. 28. For a list of people on the planning team, visit I:\ADV Common\2020-2025 Advancement\2022-23 Planning\Multi-disciplinary teams.xlsx.

Avon MacFarlane from The Offord Group will facilitate the in-person launch and the cross-functional team planning days.

Leading the pack

By: Simon Labbett, Associate Director, Advancement Services Applications & Infrastructure

With the deadline of Feb. 1 fast approaching for restricted access to Queen’s resources, I am happy to report that Advancement has reached a 97.22 per cent machine compliancy rate. This is a full 10 per cent ahead of the next highest department on campus. I want to thank all of Advancement for their efforts on completing Windows updates and installing the Company Portal to achieve this great result well ahead of the deadline.

On top of this, we are also one of only two Queen’s departments with 100 per cent multi-factor authentication enrollment. Another kudos to you all!

Most of all, I would like to show my appreciation for the efforts of Jon and Brent at the ServiceDesk. They have put an immense amount of effort and time into these initiatives in talking with ITS to determine the best path forward, reaching out to help those having issues, and answering any questions our staff have.

Thanks again to everyone in Advancement. Now, on Feb. 1, we will not be among the many people contacting ITS to determine why they cannot connect to restricted Queen’s resources!

An easier way to connect with Alumni Services

The Alumni Services team is excited to announce the launch of this online request system!

HUGE kudos to Simon, Corrine, and the entire Alumni Services team for working together over the past several months to make this a reality, and to our 'testers' who helped drive some important changes.

No more complex emails or chats; simply pick a category, complete a form, and submit your request to be triaged.

You'll see this new option under Request Systems in the Advancement Hub.

We've captured all the typical request categories we receive and there is still room to expand these options as we move forward.

Need admin support? From coding requests and credit card updates, to email creation and deployment, we are here to help you!

Employee Spotlight

The Employee Spotlight celebrates the arrival of our new and current staff by profiling responses they share through a fun and informal survey that will help us get to know them better. Be sure to review these profiles and use these fun facts and tidbits to find commonalities, embrace differences and spark a conversation.

This week’s feature includes:

Carmen Vanderlinde in the position of Associate Director, Gift Planning. Learn more about Carmen and what they love most about their role.
