Congratulations to all Named TAship Award winners, for Winter 2022! Named TAship awards recognize a TA that has gone above and beyond in the classroom, lab, or in the field.

Congratulations to alumnus Dr. Callum Walter, BSc'16, PhD'21, who will be joining the USGS and NASA for an exciting postdoctoral opportunity.  

Dr. Walter will begin this new venture later this fall where he’ll join the USGS - National Innovation Center and the NASA - Ames Research Center for Planetary Science, both based out of Moffett Field, California.

RockEng22, the 22nd Canadian Rock Mechanics Symposium is being hosted on Queen's University campus this year, August 8-10. 

The Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering's Dr. Jennifer Day is the Chair of the symposium, and Dr. Mark Diederichs is the Technical Chair. 

Smith Engineering at Queen's University shared a great article about the symposium, titled "RockEng22 Symposium gets off the ground".

Dr. Christopher Spencer is featured in an article by the Queen's Alumni Review, titled "Field Trip: Dodging hot lava, picking field greens, and staring down simians are all in a day’s work for Queen’s researchers in the field."
