Salaries and Benefits for Clinical Faculty

If your appointment is GFT Clinical Faculty, please contact the Faculty of Health Sciences for information on how the Queen's benefit package applies to you. Important Deadline: You must enroll for your health benefits within 31 days of your starting date. Late applications require medical evidence of good health at your own expense.

Queen's Benefit Package

Queen's offers a comprehensive, family friendly compensation package for eligible faculty and their families, including coverage for common law partners and same-sex partners and spouses.

  • Health insurance and other benefits: Queen's offers a comprehensive group health and dental insurance plan, including medical coverage to complement the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

  • Life Insurance and Long Term Disability plan: Security for you and your family is provided through both opt-in and mandatory coverage. Participation in the Long-Term Disability plan provides financial benefits for those unable to continue working in their occupation.

  • Tuition support plan: Spouses, partners and dependent children of faculty members and GFT Clinical Faculty are eligible for tuition support of up to $3,000 per year per dependent attending any recognized post secondary institution in North America, and on a case-by-case basis at institutions outside North America and high-quality, non-University or college-based programs. The amount available to applicants depends on the level of use in a given year.

  • Maternity and parental leave: Queen's supports and encourage faculty members' research programs with extensive maternity and parental leave programs. Full-time faculty members, librarians and archivists who have taken maternity leave with pay shall have no scheduled teaching or service duties assigned for one year from the date of the birth, or, in case of an adoption, the taking into care or custody of a child.   • Child care support benefit plan: Parents/Guardians with children under age six are eligible for partial reimbursement of eligible childcare expenses.

  • Pension plan: All regular continuing full-time faculty must, as a condition of employment, become pension plan members on the start date of their appointment. Read about the pension plan here.

  • Registered education savings plan: You can participate in the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation's RESP program through payroll deduction. Read about the RESP here.
