In this Masterclass, Smith Engineering Professor Sean Kauffman will give an introduction to some of the challenges of writing and maintaining software for spacecraft, focusing on a case study from the Mars Science Laboratory (also known as the Curiosity rover). Students will learn how operators on Earth interact with distant spacecraft and use mathematics and computer engineering to diagnose and solve problems.
