The Other Shore

The DAN School Majors invites you into the world of the Other Shore written by Gao Xingjian and translated by Gilbert C. Fong. In this highly physical play, audiences are taken on a dream -like journey in which individual identity is lost and found. A strong emotional current carries audiences through unconnected scenes that explore the joys and dangers of our connections to others. Collectivism at its best and worse poses a challenge which the protagonist and audience must navigate in order to find their true selves.

Masked Encouraged Performance (Nov. 17th, 2024)
Although wearing a mask is not mandatory, audience members are encouraged to wear a mask while in the theatre. We aim to provide a safe environment for those who wear masks as a precaution or who have respiratory issues to enjoy the show.

Relaxed Etiquette Performance (Nov. 21st, 2024)
A relaxed performance is when the typical “rules” of the theatre are relaxed. This creates an environment that allows audience members to feel comfortable with any movement or sounds that surrounding audience members might make. This also allows audience members to safely leave and re-enter the theatre when needed and not stifle any stims or tics without being expected to stop.

Dates That Chill Out Zone is Provided
TBA
Although we will not be offering a sensory-friendly performance, we are providing the following
resources to make every show as accessible as possible:
- Chill Out Zone (at specific performances)
- Intensity maps of all technical and special effects
- Scene by Scene Breakdown
- Content Information and Warnings
- Leniency in entrance/exiting as needed
